Hi there everyone, just to introduce myself…….. I’ve come late to the off-road scene, having ridden bikes on road continuously since 1974. I live in Billericay, Essex and spend a lot of time in Chesterfield, Derbyshire where I anticipate most of my off-road use will be – unless I learn of a community nearer Essex.

I acquired a true barn/garage find last year – a 250 Sherpa model 49 with some Sammy Miller accessories. That already makes it sound better that it is! I got it running fairly easily by ultrasonic cleaning the carb (the pilot circuit of the Amal Mk1 needed a 2nd attempt), fitting new consumables and sealing the tank. New cheapo tyres that aren’t split and new rear shocks. I hand-made a copy SM seat cushion that is even more uncomfortable than the original. My aim is to ‘not-restore’ it, just keep it working and use it – so any news of local meets would be very welcome.

Having not had 2-strokes before – I am more than happy to do a full rebuild on multi 4-strokes – I have got a lot to learn and will almost certainly need the services of some engineering firms, as already I understand what Piston-Slap is! I have just replaced the crankshaft seals, and I am struggling to torque the clutch nut as the clutch-lock tool I ordered from In-motion (seem to be good helpful guys generally) is out of stock and their source delivery is delayed. If anyone local has one I can borrow for a day, I’d be very interested to hear from you.

I have been using the only 4 local small green lanes and some longer ones near Chatsworth in the peak district, and I have to say that I really love this little bike.

As I mentioned I would be interested to link up with other members and particularly anybody local to me as I would very much appreciate any tips and guidance and maybe even social & riding companions.

I look forward to making contact with members in future.

There just hasnt been much doing on in the Jag scene in general. Lynx is more bustling than jag these days.

All the scene projects havent been updated in years.

Anyone up for this on Sunday, if this is of interest I will sort out a car, probably the LMP cars or GT3, whichever are the least twitchy with stock settings and controllers.
